TCS Faces Notice Over Allegations of Coercive Employee Transfers, NITES Demands Protection for IT Workers

NITES Urges Government Probe into TCS' Alleged Unethical Employee Transfers

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is a big company in the tech Business industry, got a notice from the labor department in Maharashtra because of how it moves its employees around. A group representing IT workers complained that TCS was making its employees move to different cities without giving them enough warning or talking to them about it.

The group got more than 300 complaints saying that TCS made around 2,000 employees move to new cities in a way that wasn’t fair. They said TCS threatened these employees, saying they’d get in trouble if they didn’t move. Also, the company stopped paying the salaries of those who didn’t agree to move. The group strongly said that TCS shouldn’t force employees to move or quit their jobs using unfair tactics.

This group asked the Ministry of Labor and Employment to check what TCS did and do something to keep IT workers safe. Before, in October, the Maharashtra Ministry of Labor and Employment noticed that TCS was taking too long to bring new people into the company and asked TCS about it.

The group also asked the Ministry of Labor and Employment to help when TCS made a lot of new employees wait a long time before they could start working. Meanwhile, the CEO of TCS talked about how big of a year it was for Generative AI, saying that even though it’s getting more popular, it’s still just the beginning.
